2009-2010 Enrollment
LCA is now filling classes for the 09-10 school year. As we are a transitioning University Model School, there are some required changes in the enrollment process. They are as follows:
- Students enroll class by class. This allows a parent to choose to school a student at home in a particular class if desired.
- Students enroll by the semester. This allows more financial freedom for the family.
To facilitate a close family bond and family/school relationship, University Model Schools allow ample time for students to spend at home, with the parent(s). These days are called satellite days, as the student is taught in a satellite, or home, classroom. As a rule, and to account for needed classroom hours, the student is required to put in one satellite hour for every traditional classroom hour.
- Kindergarten through sixth grade students (primary and intermediate) have class Tuesday and Thursday. Classes are held in the satellite (home) classroom on Monday and Wednesday. If a family desires extra help from a teacher at school, students may enroll in tutorials on a satellite day.
- Seventh through twelfth grade (jr. high and high school) students have class Monday and Wednesday. Classes are held in the satellite (home) classroom on Tuesday and Thursday. Again, if a family desires extra help from a teacher at school, students may enroll in tutorials on a satellite day.
